When your office is at home, your setup does some of the talking for you. Here is a practical path to a workspace that passes our requirements and impresses on every call.
Start with the non-negotiables
MyWorkspace roles need a machine with at least an Intel i3-8100 processor, 8GB DDR4 RAM and a 240GB SSD, running Windows 10 Pro, plus stable internet of 5 Mbps or better and a headset with a microphone. These are the floor, not the ceiling: if you can go higher, your future self will thank you.
Pick the quietest corner you have
You do not need a separate room; you need a predictable one. Tell your household your working hours, face away from foot traffic, and keep a closed door or curtain between you and the noise where possible.
Light your face, not your back
Sit facing a window or put a cheap ring light behind your camera. Backlighting turns you into a silhouette, and clients connect better with a face they can actually see.
Plan for brownouts and outages
A loaded power bank, a phone with a data allowance for hotspotting, and knowing the nearest coworking space or cafe with fast wifi will save the day at least once a year. In Bacolod, our own spaces are open to MyWorkspace team members whenever you need a desk.
Make the space yours
A plant, decent coffee, and a chair that does not hurt after two hours. You will spend eight hours a day here building your career. It should feel like it belongs to you, because it does.
